Background
Mr. Naqvi did B.A.(Hons.) from Delhi University, Diploma in Journalism from Thomson School of Journalism, Cardiff, UK, 1968 and Parvin Fellowship at the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, Princeton University, Princeton, USA.

During the years 1964 to 1967 he was associated with The Statesman, Delhi as a Staff Reporter, Staff Correspondent, Rajasthan, Special Correspondent in charge of Parliament and various ministries and Editor, Sunday Magazine. He was a Senior Reporter in Salem Evening News, Massachusetts, USA. From the year 1967 to 1969 he was associated with The Sunday Times, London as a Feature Writer, special investigations on race relations in Britain and Special Correspondent.

From 1977-78 he worked with The Indian Express, Delhi as a Special Correspondent in charge of Prime Minister’s office, Ministry of External Affairs, Ministry of Defence, Parliament. During the years 1979 to 1984 he was Editor, Southern Editions of the Indian Express, Madras. He became Foreign Editor of The Indian Express, Delhi in 1984.

His various stories and features are published in national and international newspapers and magazines. Reflections of an Indian Muslim and The Last Brahmin Prime Minister are books written by him.

During his vast career in Journalism he has interviewed World Leaders for Print as well as TV media.

Presently
From 1986 onwards he is associated with World Report, which produced an international affairs series entitled World Report for Doordarshan. World Report also produced prime time international news and features series entitled "It’s a Small World" for Star Television. World Report currently produces a weekly foreign affairs show on Doordarshan called Worldview India.
